Summary:

Congress Centre
Congress Centre is the operating name used by the TUC to market the wide range of conference and meeting facilities in Congress House, the central London location of the TUC. The venue includes a self-contained hall seating up to 500 people with high technical in-house presentation facilities, seventeen meeting rooms, a further three off site and a cafe bar serving breakfast and lunch daily.
Head Chef (Job Ref: MSAD/68/09)
Salary £34,239 per annum, rising incrementally to £34,475 per annum, including LW
37.5 hours per week (shift patterns including early mornings, evenings and occasionally weekends)
Fixed Term for 3 Years
Based in Congress Centre, Congress House WC1B 3LS
The post holder will be responsible for the ordering, preparation and presentation of all food items associated with the operation of the TUC Congress Centre while maintaining a high standard of service to clients. As well as having a professional chef’s diploma or equivalent, the successful candidate will need to demonstrate:
• Proven chef experience in a similar position either in a hotel or residential conference environment
• Experience in all aspects of kitchen management at operational and management level, including costing for food and beverage and staffing tariffs
• Direct experience of managing a diverse team in the service sector – including chefs, kitchen porters and agency staff
• Excellent budgeting skills
• Menu design and implementation
• Experience of multiple small and large function catering
• Up to date knowledge of Hygiene, Health and Safety legislation within the food industry
First interviews will be held on 16 or 17 December 2009.
Second interview will be held on 21 or 23 December 2009.
